Tubi TV is the best HDToday alternative for one simple reason. It’s legal and 100% free. You can do what HDToday lets you do, stream free movies, but legally. Despite being legal, it does not require a signup or payment.
All the content is at least 720P if not higher. The interface is extremely professional and modern. There are no hidden ads or popups. It does use ads but they’re consented and way more safe than the ads on most other similar sites.
It has content across all genres, be it action, comedy, foreign films, romance, preschool and more.
The video player is advanced too and it offers in-built subtitles, as well as a quality-control feature.
You will not find very recent or fresh movies though. As it’s all free, only older movies are generally available. The freshest content I found was about a year old. It is also available on TV, Xbox, phones and almost every other device.

I’ve not seen any other alternatives to HDToday that offer a better user interface than UpMovies. It provides an equal if not a better interface than what we see on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or other OTTs.
You can search for specific movies using the search bar. If you don’t have specific requirements you can use its generic search filters such as genre, country, release-year, etc.
It also has buttons such as anime/cartoon/Asian drama/ TV series etc. that can help you find movies & series.
Movie thumbnails are interactive. You can hover over them to reveal information such as genre, quality, country, release year, etc. This helps you pick and avoid content without actually having to individually check each movie page.
For some movies, it offers up to 50 servers. That ensures you’ll be streaming free movies no matter how many servers are down.
It even has a “light on/off” mode which removes everything from the screen except the video player. I did find subtitles (upload/URL-based) on some servers but unfortunately, there was no quality control on any of these servers (I’ve tried 24).
The ads are painful but that’s true for any other HDToday alternative on this list unless you are not using the best VPN or adblocker. There’s also a comments system you can use to review the movie or simply talk to others who have commented.

SolarMovies is one of the most popular websites like HDToday. In fact, we have an independent list of SolarMovies alternatives.
On the homepage you’ll see a search bar using which you can search for the movies you need.
At the top, you’ll find other filters such genre, country, movies, TV-series, Top IMDb etc. There’s even an A-Z alphabetic scale. It lists every single movie/series on SolarMovies. Simply choose the initials to find them.
The thumbnails are interactive, hovering gives us movie quality, run-time, release-year, genre etc.
SolarMovies can remember movies you watch, just like Netflix and offers a “continue watching” feature.
Most movies have 3 servers to choose from. It does offer both in-built English subtitles as well as quality-control. Available options generally include 360P/480P and 1080P.
It does have the “turn off lights” feature that removes everything from the screen except the video player.
Social feature exists as well, you can comment and interact with others. It also hosts very recent movies and I found releases less than 2 weeks old.

4. FilxTor
Best HDToday alternative for very recent movies/shows.
FlixTor makes finding movies extremely easy. On the homepage, it has tabs for most popular today, recommendations, and “now playing in theatres”. This last filter proves that you’ll easily find some of the most recent movies.
FlixTor isn’t 100% free, but in a good way. You get 100% free access to new content or content that’s less than 6 months old. You only need to pay if you wish to access older movies/shows.
The thumbnails are informative. Hovering brings up information such as genre, rating, release year, etc. No direct quality is mentioned on the thumbnails though.
There are other filters as well. You can search based on release year, minimum rating, minimum votes, language, genre, etc.
Due to its optional paid plan, FlixTor doesn’t use ads which makes it one of the most desirable options here.
The video player generally offers quality-control features. No subtitles are available. It also is mostly limited to 1 server per movie/show.
All content can be downloaded directly off FlixTor.

YesMovies offers a more professional user interface than most other HDToday alternatives here.
You can search for movies using a search bar on the homepage. There are two options for “Movies/TV Series” that you can use as well.
There are many other filters such as genre/country/ top IMDb etc. that you can use. I hate the fact that the movie thumbnails are not interactive or informative. The thumbnails only tell us the “quality” of the movie. The run-time or release year, cast and other information aren’t available. There’s no hover-effect either which means you must click on individual movies to get this information and pick the right movies/series.
The movie pages sure are detailed. They include a synopsis, run-time, quality, release year, and everything else you may want to know about the movie.
Most movies have about 3 servers to choose from. On most servers, you get built-in subtitles (generally English) and quality-control options as well. You can select from 360P/720P. If you don’t see these options, choose a different server.
The content recency is impressive, I found movies released just a few months back.

BMovies deserves a mention when talking about websites like HDToday. You can filter for movies using the top bar. Available filters include genre, country, release year, Top IMDb, and even an A-Z list.
If you know exactly what you’re searching for, you can also use the search bar to enter the movie/series name directly.
Its thumbnails are the most informative. They tell you the quality, runtime, country, genre, and even a short synopsis of the movie.
Most movies/shows have about 2 server options. It’s one of the free online streaming platforms that offers in-built subtitles in multiple languages. You can find Finnish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, and so on. Most content is available in HD and you do get quality-control options. You can choose from 360P to 1080P.
There’s even the “turn off light” feature that offers a more immersive experience. A social feature exists for comments.

The movie thumbnails do tell us the quality of the movie, release year, and runtime.
The movie pages are detailed. They include a synopsis, country, producers, cast, and some more information.
You can even favorite and like/dislike movies. This HDToday alternative offers 3 servers for most content. The Mixdrop server is generally offline so take this to be a 2-usable server option. On one server you’ll find a quality control option while the other doesn’t offer the same. There are no subtitle features.
