Batman and Superman have been at the forefront of nerd-news ever since SDCC this year. With the announcement of the team-up Man of Steel sequel, and the “Batfleck” insanity, Batman and Superman are HOT! DC knows what they are doing and introducing the paired monthly comic focusing on the start of their friendship was genius.
I’m a sucker for a flashback. I just love them. Pair it with a best friendship that started when they were just kids and add a parallel universe and I’m salivating for more.(or is this just the new 52 version of how Bruce and Clark met? I’m excited either way)
Batman/Superman has won my heart in it’s three issues. It’s not at all what I expected and I’m so glad for that. If I’m honest I have a hard time getting ‘into’ Superman. He’s just so…super. This take on the character and his relationship with Batman is nothing short of refreshing. I love it. I’m also loving how big of a role Wonder Woman is playing, and how amazingly awesome she is. I love Wonder Woman the most when she is cold, stand offish and confused by humans. She’s so strong and has no fear. She’s epic, but rarely allowed to be as epic as the boys. So far in this comic she has been the now punches held hard a$$, and I LOVE it.
This is a story that must be read by anyone into comics. The art is amazing and it has such a fun take on these historic legends that it feel some how feels new. If you are only going to read one DC comic book, I would reccomend this one. It’s like a sample of all the major DC characters so far its featured- Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Alfred, Pa and Ma Kent, Darksied, and a couple others…not the mention two versions of both of the headlines…this is a great comic to get your feet wet.
