Best Brunch Spots In Montgomery County

By Tanvi Rastogi @tanviidotcom

As much as I love driving in to DC and exploring the food scene of the city, I also enjoy checking out the local spots which are not much of a drive but delicious AF. Below are few of my favorite Brunch spots in the Montgomery County. However, most of these places also serve equally good lunch and dinner options. But since I like consuming majority of my calories during the first half of the day I often visit these places for breakfast/brunch over the weekends.

5. Silver

This has a vibe of a posh diner. It is cozy enough for a lazy weekday dinner or a fancy weekend brunch. The food is delicious. I absolutely love their Avocado Toast (I know, basic!). They also have several different versions of French Toast and other delicious vegetarian options. I sure love a place were I can order something different each time I visit. The service is inconsistent which is one of my grips because I never know how my experience will be. But the food and location is why I keep going back.

4. City Perch I love the vibe of this place. It is warm and sophisticated. Great spot for a family brunch and a meal with a colleague both. The food is amazing. Their brunch menu is adequate and has options for everyone. Crispy Latke are indulgent but so good. I also love the 'Over The Top Toast' and of course the French Toast. The service however is not consistent, and that is my only grip. At times we have had good service and other time it seemed the server was not interested, but having said that I would definitely go back because the food is really good.

3. Jaleo
Of all the times I have been to Jaleo, I have not had a single bad experience. It is a stalwart in terms of service and food, both. Their cheese platter can be a meal in itself, but to be honest the whole menu is creative and delicious. It is a spot to go with a big group so that you can order and try everything the menu has to offer. A special mention for an amazing variety of options for vegetarians.

2. Summer House

No matter the season, the vibe here is always cool, light and open. The decor is beautiful decor. I love the exposed wood, color palette and the lighting. The menu has something for everyone without being overwhelming. I have tried their waffles, french toast, and avocado toast. The only grip I have is that the portions are not huge so you might have to order a side. Everyone who works there is ALWAYS very polished and professional. I would recommend making a reservation especially over the weekend as it is always packed. (Review here)

1. Founding Farmers This is my go-to brunch/breakfast spot in Montgomery County. I counted, and this is the spot where we went to eat the most in 2018. This is farm-to-table restaurant and the food is prepared fresh. You already know I love their french toast but I also their grain bowl. The portions are huge so you know you won't go home hungry. Over the last 4 years we have been here for all meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service has always been exemplary and the food has been delicious and fresh. They have several locations in the DMV area, and while I can't speak for others, the Montgomery location is A1.
