This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, is books on our winter TBR list. Since I don’t do quarterly TBR lists anymore, I decided to write about books I’ve added to my TBR list from the end of 2024 best-of book lists.
I don’t know about you, but I love looking at end of year best-of lists. Even though I’ve read few of the books on these lists, I often catch up in the next year. Here are some of my favorite end-of-year book lists:
Here are the newest additions on my TBR from the best books of 2024 lists:
- All Fours by Miranda July
- Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten
- The Book of Love by Kelly Link
- Catalina by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio
- Creation Lake by Rachel Kushner
- Colored Television by Danzy Senna
- James by Percival Everett
- The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich
- Playground by Richard Powers
- Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange
I’ve added quite a few more than these, but I limited this list to ten. I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether these are books you recommend.
The book that showed up most often on these lists was James. Other books on quite a few lists were Wandering Stars, The Mighty Red, Playground, The Book of Love, and Creation Lake. All Fours and James were also on the New York Times’ Top Ten of the Year.
A few others I’ve added to my list are The Wedding People by Allison Espach, The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley and Someone Like Us by Dinaw Mengestu. Two books I started a few weeks ago that I wasn’t able to finish were The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo and Swift River by Essie Chambers.
The only authors I’ve read already from this list are Tommy Orange and Louise Erdrich.
Those are the books I’ve added to my TBR, based on this year’s “best of” lists. Have you read any of these? What did you think?
