Denmark’s Benedicte Pierleoni, recording under the name Bene, has absolutely captured our attention. With a background in percussion, she began playing guitar as well, writing only songs that she’s capable of recording all on her own — a noble feat to be sure. Though incorporating this DIY mantra doesn’t allow much room for lush production, there’s a great, emotive quality that flows from her music’s simplicity. With witty instrumentation and creative storytelling, she’s able to craft a songs, like “The Mood”, that beautifully capture a specific feeling. Her newest music video, featured above, is no different and perfectly illustrates the sort of broken yet hopeful nostalgia that the song exudes. Following a young boy as he explores a deserted amusement park, the whimsical guitar melody replaces loneliness with a sense of adventure. Watch above, and be sure to check out her upcoming album to be released on Mermaid Recordings.
