Benches and Pathways 1

“Benches and Pathways 1″ / Sonya’s Garden, Tagaytay City, Philippines / July 2013

I’m introducing this little Sunday treat for the next fifteen Sundays.  My scheduled posts until the end of September are mostly sepia portraits and colored photoarts, images taken in Papua New Guinea in June.   To add a little bit of spice and variation to my posts,  I’m starting this series on images of pathways and benches in a tropical garden to be posted every Sunday starting today.

The garden is located in Tagaytay, a city some 2 hours drive north of Manila. Tagaygay City is one of the favorite vacation spots near Manila because  of its favorable weather and the magnificent view of Taal Lake, a volcanic crater that is visible from most parts of the city when it is not foggy.  I happened to be in the city for a 2-day meeting and was later brought to a place called Sonya’s Garden which is another 30-40 minutes drive from the city proper.   The place is just a few acres wide but it has this network of pathways dotted by benches along lush tropical trees and colorful flowers.  It took us less than an hour to take photos while walking around the garden but  it was, nevertheless, a great therapeutic experience — a good break from work.  I hope these images inspire your Sundays as well.
