A visiting Huey spotted at the San Carlos Airport.  There was something about the helicopter that I couldn’t quite pin down, until a friend commented on the tall skids. This warbird is part of the extensive fleet of PJ Helicopters, a California precision helicopter lift service in business since 1970, and probably in town to perform aerial surveys for PG&E.  Originally delivered to the US Army in 1965 as a UH-1D, and subsequently converted to an H configuration, where it saw action in Vietnam with the 173rd  Aviation Company.  First flown in 1956, more than 16,000 variants of this iconic helicopter were produced.
