An image of “Fatal Fang” from a trip to the Yanks Air Museum. The successor to the P-39 Airacobra, deliveries of the Kingcobra began in October of 1943 and the USAAF determined that the P-63A was not comparable enough with other frontline aircraft to put into combat. Outperformed at high altitude by the P-51 Mustang and P-47 Thunderbolt, the P-63 King Cobra was relegated to training duty by the AAF. This example was acquired by the Museum in 1978 and restored.
