Beetroot and Sesame Paratha /Roti 

Main Ingredient: Beetroot and sesame seed.

Makes: 8 rotis/parathas
 

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup peeled, boiled, and grated or blended beetroot
  • 1-2 tablespoon Roasted sesame seeds (til)
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
  • 2 teaspoon oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon coriander (dhania) powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 finely chopped green chilli (optional)
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ cup Whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta) for rolling
  • 1-2 tablespoon oil for cooking
 

Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and knead into soft dough, using very little water.
  2. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll out each portion into a circle of 5-6" diameter, using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook each roti, using little oil, till it turns golden brown in color from both the sides.
  4. Your Beetroot Roti/Paratha is ready.
