There's more to beer travel than just beer. There are all kinds of fun opportunities to see wonderful art and history in out of the way places that aren't traditional museums. Churches and cathedrals are great places to take a quick art break. Throughout Europe, there are "open" churches that allow people to walk in and wander around. Some are simple and small, while others have art collections that rival some of the best museum.
St. Bertinus is a smaller church located on the Grote Markt (town square) of Poperinge, Belgium. It's an open church and has a nice collection of wood carvings and statues. This is one of a group of statues located in a back alcove near the main entrance. Poperinge is a great beer town in the heart of Belgian hop country. Some of the countries best breweries are minutes away, including St Bernardus, Westvleteren, De Plukker, and more.
