I reached into the can bin, pulled out the last can of Sly Fox Oktoberfest Lager, and thought that I should review it before it was gone. This was another autumn seasonal that I had purchased with the intent to share at HalloweinerFest. Sadly, I think I had refrigerated it, and then “forgot” to pass it out.

Here is what Sly Fox has to say about their Oktoberfest Lager:

This traditional Oktoberfest beer celebrates the arrival of Fall. It is a medium-bodied, smooth and malty brew made with German Vienna malts and German hops.

I found the Oktoberfest Lager to have the following characteristics…

  • Appearance: Light orange with a quickly dissipating foam.
  • Aroma: Sweet malt and yeast.
  • Taste: Sweet, with a mildewy-yeasty flavor, and a slightly bitter, hoppy finish.
  • ABV: 5.8%

I’m not sure what happened here, but the flavors, while not out of balance, were just a little meh. It wasn’t good. It wasn’t bad. It was just meh.
