Beer Review – Perrin Brewing Co. Carrot Cake Cream Ale

By Boozedancing @boozedancing

There's no shortage of ideas coming out of the BrewWorks at Perrin Brewing Co ...

Pineapple Upside Down Cake IPA? Check!
S'more's Stout? Check!
Malted Milk Ball? Check!

And now, Carrot Cake Cream Ale!

We love desserts and cakes and candies. And we love all of the crazy concoctions that the BrewMeisters at Perrin have come up with so far which we've been lucky enough to sample, so when we heard that the next beer in their Side Hustle Series would have something to do with carrot cake, we were all in.

Before we get to our review, here's what Perrin Brewing Co had to say about their Carrot Cake Cream Ale in the press release which landed in our inbox not so long ago:

Pour out a slice of sweet and creamy Carrot Cake. Blended with pineapple, lactose and three hundred pounds of real carrots, Carrot Cake Cream Ale is brewed with a wide variety of specialty malts for a rich cake flavor and malty backbone.Seven moist, decadent carrot cakes from Arnie's Bakery were added to the mash to lend Carrot Cake Cream Ale a delectable dose of authentic, locally-baked cake flavor. The sheet cakes were made with fresh shredded carrots, crushed pineapple, raisins, cake flour and eggs, and topped with whipped cream cheese icing.

So they took seven whole carrot cakes and added them DIRECTLY to the mash during the making of this beer. We sure would hate to be the person that had to clean out that mess. Thankfully, all WE have to do is give the beer a try and tell you our thoughts. For whatever reason, we call this work. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it!
