In search of the Duchesse De Bourgogne Flemish Red Ale, I stopped at the Roger Wilco at Eagle Plaza. While I did find the Duchesse and the Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour, I picked up a couple of cans to fill out the beer fridge. One of the selections was the Rumspringa Golden Bock from Lancaster Brewing. I had had the Kölsch and the Milk Stout and looked forward to another of their lineup.
Here is what Lancaster Brewing has to say about its Rumspringa:
Embrace your slightly rebellious side with our feisty Golden Bock Lager brewed with real Lancaster County honey. It delivers subtle malt flavors flawlessly balanced by a blend of domestic and European hops.
I found the Rumspringa to be…
- Appearance: Amber with light foam and good lacing.
- Aroma: Sweet malt with hints of citrus, fruit and honey.
- Taste: Sweet malt with honey and hops and a floral finish.
- ABV: 6.9%
I shared a couple of cans with the Wookie and G-LO (while the Mrs. G-LO and my better half split a Monk’s Flemish). While the Wookie offered his typical comment of “dreadful”, G-LO and I found that the Rumspringa was an okay beer. Crisp, refreshing, maybe a little out of balance but still a good beer.
