Hi loves! I'm Erin and I blog over at Sugar Magnolia. I am so excited for the chance to get to guest post on Samantha's blog today! Like Samantha, I am a military wife who has been through a deployment and I am a new mom to a one year old little boy named Levi! Becoming a mom is hands down the best thing that has ever happened to me, but it was definitely not something that I had planned on happening at such a young age.

Stu and I had been engaged for about 6 months when I found out that I was pregnant and I was 22 years old. Talk about being shocked and scared. I mean honestly, I didn't even like kids! And the thought of labor, umm no thank you! But the first time I heard that heart beat, everything changed. At that point I was already in love with that little bean that was growing inside of me, and knew that it was meant to be.Fast forward 9 months, and I was officially a new mom to a baby boy. I was terrified that I wouldn't know what to do with a baby, but it's true when they say that it just comes naturally. Growing up I never thought that I would be the first of all my friends to get married, or yet alone get pregnant. I guess I just always figured it would happen later on in life. It makes me sad when I hear/read people say negative things about young moms and how boring their lives must be. Being a young mom is AWESOME! I mean, I have a little best friend that I get to hang out with all day. He is always happy to see me, he's the cutest thing ever and I am convinced their is nothing better in the word then baby kisses. And guess what? Most of my friends still want to hang out with me, and Stu and I still get to have fun together and enjoy being newlyweds...just with a little dude hanging around (;Now don't get me wrong, your life will drastically change. Stu and I do not go out all of the time anymore and a simple trip to Target is no longer so simple anymore. I don't have any friends that have babies yet, so sometimes I feel left out when my friends all go out and do "non-mom" things together. You will have people who give you grief for having a baby and you will learn that some friends are not so great anymore. But in the end you don't want those people as friends anyways, right? My advice to any soon-to-be moms is to stay true to yourself and continue to do the things that you love after you have your baby. I love to cook and paint and try to make sure I take time to myself a couple of times a week to do both. Also, make sure you work on the relationship you have with your significant other, because one day once your kids are gone, your man is who will still be there. Don't sweat the small stuff and don't let anyone bring you down with negativity.Hope you will stop by Sugar Magnolia and say hello!
