Did you know that lipstick remains to be the top selling beauty product among all makeup categories? Women’s Health reports the average woman “eats” 4 to 9 pounds of lipstick in their lifetime. But most women are clueless (or choose to be ignorant) of what’s in the lipstick they wear everyday, and that is LEAD. The truth is this widely used ingredient in many lipsticks is being ingested little by little as you lick your lips, eat, and drink. This toxic ingredient builds up in the body over time and lead-containing lipstick applied regularly can add up to significant exposure levels which may lead to infertility and miscarriage.
Women should be able to wear lipstick and be safe from heavy metals and other toxic ingredients that can be hazardous to our health in the long run. Enter the Pure Organic lipstick line of Virginia Olsen! Yes to safe alternatives, yeah? Here’s a sneak peek!
I got this shade called Pinky Posh (MM4-390), a nude pink perfect for everyday wear. It has satin finish so it won’t completely cover up your natural lip color. But the shade is buildable so you can apply twice or more to achieve the opacity you want. It also has a bit of shimmer.
I absolutely love that this lipstick glides on my lips smoothly! It makes my lips well-hydrated and moisturized thanks to the shea butter, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil it is infused with. I didn’t experience dry and cracked lips using this because Virginia Olsen Organic Lipstick does not contain petro-derived FD&C dyes, unlike other lipstick brands that can really make my lips dry if I don’t apply lip balm underneath. The formula is loaded with antioxidants and is 100% natural with color derived from fruit pigment. Staying power is about 4 hours, which is actually good considering this is organic lipstick! I don’t mind reapplying though because the subtle vanilla scent makes it enjoyable to reapply.
I’m excited to see the other shades that will be available here in the Philippines! Virginia Olsen Organic Lipsticks will be available this November. Price starts at only Php399 each tube. What a steal! Be sure to follow Virginia Olsen in Facebook and Twitter for updates.
