They are like treasures hidden in our backyard, never to be unearthed and enjoyed..
One such gem I discovered (online sigh!!) is Old Lahore, from just a few pictures I can tell the place has so much character, every color adds personality, every hallway tells a story of an era gone by, every detail around every window talks of art and culture..
I think I should stop talking now...what follows is a post from the gorgeous site siddysays.com ....
"That crazy elated feeling you get when you find something wonderful?! Yes, that’s what we’re feeling RIGHT now as I design this post. At SiddySays we’re always in search of hidden gems and I’m personally shocked it took us this long to discover one right here in Lahore. If you’re a tourist or a local, Old Lahore – The Walled City is a must visit. Normally the food gets people heading to that part of town BUT what if you had a chance to experience the old city first hand… Not just look down at it from a restaurant terrace. What if you could walk through time, interact with people, see sights you would never have seen otherwise… We’d take that up in a jiffy (and yes we are going to very soon). The brain child of Farhan Shah who’s ancestral home Fakir Khana is one of the Walled City’s hidden gems itself, the Old Lahore Walkabouts organizes groups to experience Lahore first hand. Here is what you should know:
