With a fifth studio album, Depression Cherry, set to release in August via Sub Pop, Beach House recently released their first single “Sparks” as a long awaited follow up to 2012’s Bloom. If dream pop has defined the band up to this point, they’ve taken it to new heights by adding heavier guitar distortion and an organ-led harmony for full cathedral effect. Their music hasn’t strayed far from previous patterns, yet it still takes a promising step into new musical territory for such well-established artists.
