“We met on a dating app at the end of 2015. We actually lived in different countries at the time, but we matched when we were in the same place for a week and didn’t manage to squeeze in a date, so he flew to France to meet me a month or so later. We officially got married in 2017 but we didn’t have our wedding until five years after. He “proposed” in 2021 on holiday in Jamaica, which was our first post-pandemic trip. I was quite surprised”, the bride shared with us.
“I’d summarize the decoration as neutral, boho, beachy. Flowers weren’t a huge priority for me but I wanted the boho theme to tie together with the venue and the dress, so I chose dried flowers for all the bouquets and decorations…”.
“The whole day was really amazing. Actually, the whole week was because it’s so rare to have all our people in one place! My favorite moments were probably… when some horses rode down the beach during the ceremony (unplanned but cute), when we accidentally had matching vows despite writing them separately, our first dance, and friends dancing on tables very late into the night”.
“My dress was a dream. I flew from New York to Athens to pick out my dress because nobody makes them like Atelier Zolotas. It was pretty much custom, I chose the top part of one dress, the bottom of another, had them made as separates, and added matching shorts because I knew I would want the freedom to dance later on. Thank goodness I did because it was an unusually hot day for mid-September. Oh, and I’ve since heard that Zolotas started selling my dress so I must have chosen well”.
Bride’s advice: “Don’t give in to pressure from other people—make it what you want. Be choosy about your vendors—especially photographers and keep the food and drinks flowing!”
