Review - BCBG Max Azria
At 9am EST today, NYFW 2012 officially began with 4 live fashion runway shows being broadcast through YouTube for those of us not quite fortunate enough to have been able to attend in person - next year hopefully! well, I can dream can't I? - BCBG Max Azria was one of the designers included in those 4 shows, alongside Nicholas K, Tadashi Shoji and Richard Chai all showing in the Lincoln Centre.
The show was scheduled to broadcast at 10am after the Nicholas K show and the buzz circulating the designers collections on Twitter was infectious. What made the event extra special, was that BCBG Max Azria took some snaps of the looks backstage and posted them on their twitter site just minutes before the models stepped out on the catwalk. This seems set to be a trending factor for designers around Fashion Week since Burberry tried it out last season with their Spring 2012 looks - I'm more than happy to see the collections before Anna Wintour does any day!
The collections started flowing down the runway and just looking at the well proportioned mix of neutral colours with flashes of neon yellow, blue and green was making me swoon. BCBG has designed his Fall 2012 collection perfectly, with floaty pleated color blocking dresses, luxurious fur stoles and trimming, leather, fur and satin panelled coats/jackets and a series of geometric horizontal/vertical striped dresses. The lengths of the dresses were either below the knee or floor length, but had a twist with a subtle slit up the side to give the look an edgier and more contemporary look.
One of the colours that seems to be trending for the Fall this year, is neon orange/tangerine and BCBG featured this color in a lot of his looks. Personally, I would normally look at this color and just automatically think, "no way." however my opinion has officially been converted after looking at this recent collection. The color works so well when used as a focal point and surrounded by neutral colours such as white, beige, black, tan and navy and it is probably a look that I will adopt later in the year.
I shall leave you lovely readers with a selection of the looks that I've picked out as my favourites, and you can comment below with your own opinions.

I chose BCBG for Day 1 of NYFW, but who would/did you chose to comment on? xo
