Truly wireless earbuds are going mainstream, with a lot of brands offering a pair even at affordable prices. The success of Apple AirPods rode this shift in the market dynamics. At Unpacked 2020, Samsung has announced an upgrade to its TWS earbuds in the form of Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus. Foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and three smartphones under the flagship Samsung Galaxy S20 series have also been announced at the event.
Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus features
The new earbuds come with a two-way speaker system along with an extra tweeter alongside the in-built woofer. This results in an enhanced sound experience when compared to its predecessor.
The Galaxy Buds Plus feature three built-in microphones. Bluetooth 5.0 is supported. In tandem, this works to tune out background noise and pick up better sound quality when the user is on a phone call, thus making the voice come through loud and clear. However, there is no noise cancellation on these buds.
In terms of battery, the capacity on the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus has been upped to 11 hours of music playback (from 6 hours on the Galaxy Buds). The case is expected to hold another 11 hours of juice, thus giving a total of 22 hours up-time on a single charge.
The new earbuds are compatible with both Android and iOS devices. When used with other Samsung devices, the seamless auto-pairing experience is offered when signed in using the same Samsung account. Touch-enabled surface provides for all sorts of inputs to be passed to the device to control music and calls, or perform a certain customized action.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus are priced at $149.99 ( ₹10,700 approx.). They are available February 14 onwards.
