Story: Batman Forever starts as Gotham City is struggling to cope with Harvey ‘Two Face’ Dent (Jones) and his criminal activities. His latest job sees Batman (Kilmer) trying to take him down, as Bruce Wayne starts ignoring one of his employees. Edward Nygma (Carrey) isn’t going to take it lightly and moves forward with his plan, becoming the Riddler.

When Two-Face and Riddler discover they have the same enemy, Batman. They team up causing more trouble for Gotham. However, Bruce Wayne sees something in young circus star Dick Grayson (O’Donnell) and offers him to learn about his secrets.

Verdict on Batman Forever

Batman Forever is an action-adventure sequel continuing to show Batman’s battles. This sees him needing to deal with an old friend Harvey Dent who has turned into Two-Face and the Riddler. All while getting to know a young circus performer, he sees a lot of himself. Bruce teaches the young man while preventing problems in Gotham.

This was the first in the start of the downward spiral of the franchise. Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones play their characters completely over-the-top often taking the spotlight of the latest Bruce, Val Kilmer. When it comes to the battle to save Gotham, it follows the same typical story, without bringing too much new to the table. It is largely forgettable in the franchise, more than anything else.

Final Thoughts Batman Forever is a typical standard movie in the Batman franchise.
