BATMAN 66 #34 Review

Holy break-in, Batman! Someone has broke into the Batcave. A not so popular villain has made her way into the most secret location on Earth in Batman 66 #34.

Starting out with a new mini story, we get a new artist and a new villain. For the first time in this series, we are introdumed to Marth “The Queen of Diamonds” and she wants the biggest, most precious diamond. Low and behold, but that diamond is housed by our Dynamic Duo in the Batcave. She has a vehicle that will drill through the Earth directly to find the largest diamond. The vehicle reminded me of that drilling transport that Bebop and Rocksteady had in the old TMNT cartoon. While Batman and Robin were out checking on some victims of a previous crime of Martha’s, she enters the Batcave. Now she isn’t the smartest criminal as she doesn’t think things through all the way before she acts. This should be no contest for our Caped Crusaders.

I will give the credit for adding a not so well know character to the mix but I wasn’t blown away by the first installment in this mini arc. The new artist adds a bit of a different feel to the story. I am not a fan of his Batman but the rest looks great. Jeff Parker hasn’t really let me down yet so I won’t say the book was bad. It is a setup for something big I’m sure. We just need to wait another couple weeks to find out.
