But we might as well have only one bathroom. Because the kids don’t want to use the bathroom on our first floor. They say it’s too messy and dirty, even though théy made it that way.
Last Monday morning I was having coffee with two other moms as I do every Monday, when my youngest daughter came into the kitchen.
‘Oh yeah, another Teacher Day,’ I remembered with some annoyance.
‘Can I use the downstairs bathroom?’ she wanted to know.
‘Why?’ I said.
‘Because there’s blue stuff in it,’ she explained.
Again I remembered something I had forgotten. Because I expected visitors I had cleaned the downstairs bathroom. And to make sure they could see I’m a great housewife I’d squirted some extra toilet cleaner in the toilet bowl. To get that freshly cleaned look!
‘So? Just go to the bathroom upstairs!’ I told my daughter, wanting her to go away and leave me in peace.
Too late, I realized my mistake. I tried to stop it, but it was too late.
‘That bathroom is too dirty!’ my daughter said in her loudest little girl voice.
It’s a sad bathroom story. Maybe it’s better at bedtime.
