I recently started volunteering for a great women’s beer group, Barley’s Angels Colorado, and I wanted to share this information and help get the word out about this fun, educational opportunity for females in the Denver/Boulder area.
Barley’s Angels is an international organization of women and beer with chapters in approximately 7 countries. Its purpose is to provide “women with a comfortable environment to explore and learn about craft beer while allowing publicans, brewers and restaurateurs to grow their female customer base by hosting Barley’s Angels safe, friendly events.” (info from the Barley’s Angels site)
The Colorado chapter holds 2 events per month–one in Boulder, one in Denver– and provide beer education from a number of women and men in the craft beer industry, with beer tastings and food pairings.
Examples of past events include: Beer & cheese pairing at Crooked Stave, Beer & salsa pairing at Epic Brewing, Haystack Mountain & Avery Brewing joint beer dinner, Beer & atrisan pizza pairing at Hops & Pie and a pour-your-own beer & small plate pairing at RiNo’s new beer bar First Draft. Check out photos from these events as well as many others.
Registration is now open for August events:
- August 19th at Upslope Brewing in Boulder–the Science of Beer.
- August 31st at Comrade Brewing in Denver–beer & hot wing pairing, featuring Comrade’s popular Superpower IPA.
Barley’s Angels is a wonderful organization dedicated to helping women expand their beer knowledge by providing enjoyable, educational events on a regular basis. I encourage any and all ladies who are interested in craft beer to check out their local chapters to see what it’s all about. And ladies of Colorado–please join us at one of our upcoming events!
