Barcelona: the Truth About the Tensions Between Messi and Griezmann

Posted on the 07 August 2019 by L'Express

After the friendly match between Barcelona and Arsenal on Sunday, the Spanish press focused on the relationship between the Catalan club’s new recruit, Antoine Griezmann, and Lionel Messi.

Released on 79 minutes, the Frenchman was reportedly ignored by Lionel Messi, who would not have greeted him… The sequence went around the web, and left fans perplexed.

However, André De Sousa, Community Manager of the French player, put an end to this affair in the best possible way. He shared images of Lionel Messi greeting Antoine Griezmann or of Luis Suarez exchanging words with Luiz Suarez. So it’s just a false polemic.

The 28-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Catalan club until 30 June 2024. Griezmann’s new release clause had been set at €800 million. He thus became the player with the highest release clause, ahead of Messi (700 million euros).

Born on 21 March 1991 in Mâcon, France, Antoine Griezmann is one of the best players in the world at his post. The 2018 World Champion (72 caps and 29 goals) had recently publicly announced that he wanted to take on a new challenge after five years in Atletico, where he won the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.
