Baked Apple Pie Via Tasty | Does It Really Work?

By Slowdownandsavor

It's no secret that t he BuzzFeed Tasty videos have taken over, and I'm not mad at them. In fact, like I'm sure you are, I'm completely mesmerized by them. Each time I scroll through my Facebook newsfeed, I'm sure to see at lest 2-3 videos each time; some savory and some sweet. They've swept social media by storm!

I've tried to recreate a couple of the recipes from Tasty before, and some went horribly wrong, not worth even mentioning. One went really well, and was like a really good, scratch-made Mexican Hamburger Helper. I wouldn't call it spectacular, but it was pretty dang delicious.

So this morning, as I laid in bed before needing to be up and at 'em during my early waking hours, I stumbled upon one of these videos with a recipe for a sweet treat that I couldn't say no to. I couldn't stop watching it, and I had to have it. NOW.

So after a failed workout attempt thanks to an extra grouchy Jack having some serious separation anxiety while in the Kid Club, we headed straight to our local Harris Teeter to scoop up the ingredients required for this dish.

What is this sweet treat, the one that made me excited to actually get into the kitchen again? The Apple Pie Bake. Here's the video that captivated all of my attention:

See? Doesn't it look simply amazing? Doesn't it already make your nose fill with the smells of fall? Apples and cinnamon together just make me happy, and this video... It did for me. This is why I had to have it. NOW.

I sub-titled this post "Does it really work?" because as I mentioned before, I have tried a couple of the other Tasty recipes that stuck out to me, and they did NOT work. One was for an apple tart, and it ended in a terrible, goopy mess. The juices spilled all over the inside of my oven and my whole house filled with smoke. You could hear the smoke alarms all down the street. It was awful. And this was true for others of the recipes. They just didn't come out the way the videos promised, and each time, I was awfully disappointed.

But knowing I had success with the One-Pot Cheesy Taco Pasta, I decided to once again put a Tasty video to the test.

I followed the instructions to the T with this recipe for Apple Pie Bake, with the exception of adding an extra apple into the mix.

And while it made a bit of a mess with the excess liquid (please remember to use a pan a rack below to catch any spills), it was a beautiful sight once cook time was up.

I ended up having to cook it an additional 15 minutes, so 45 instead of 30, but oh my gosh, once it was time to get it out of the oven, my kitchen smelled beyond sensational.

It was perfection. Oh my heavens. YES, it worked. YES this recipe worked. It was appley-cinnamony deliciousness. The apples were perfectly cooked, sweet and tart. They paired beautifully with the soft, spiced bread. The textures were a mixture of velvety and crisp, and the aroma was so delightful. I was transported to a happy place, a place of apple orchards and crisp fall leaves.

Yes, it was also a lot more time consuming than the short little videos make it seem, but I do have to agree, it's the only dessert you'll ever need. Holy smokes.

I highly recommend this recipe to anyone who loves a good fall sweet treat. It was a huge hit here in our house!
