Baboon Mother and Baby

By Monkeys And Mountains Adventure @Laurel_Robbins

I love monkeys, so  so much that I actually hold a Bachelor of Science in Primatology (the study of monkeys).  I’ve read about baboons and watched countless videos of them, but it wasn’t until a recent visit to the Drakensberg in South Africa, that I had the chance to observe wild baboons.  You can imagine my delight to capture this sequence of events between a baboon mother and her baby, as told from the baby’s perspective…
“Dinnertime at the Didima Chalets with Cathedral Peak in the background, this is my stomping grounds and… dinner table.”
“Wait a minute, mom seems to be more interested in her dinner than in me.  Maybe I’ll get her attention by giving her the evil eye…”

“Well since that didn’t work….”
“Crying works every time!”

See the official South Africa Tourism Site (in German) or the South African Tourism Site (in English) for more info on traveling to the Drakensberg.
