Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdul Al-Hussainan aka Abu-Zaid al Kuwaiti in drone attack
A senior al-Qaida official and potential successor to the group’s leader Ayman al-Zawahiri – Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdul Al-Hussainan aka Abu-Zaid al Kuwaiti, was killed in a Predator drone attack in Pakistan on Friday morning.
The 46-year-old was targeted when he was eating breakfast. Confirming his death on their web forum early on Friday, al Qaeda said:
“We celebrate to you the news of the martyrdom of the working scholar Shaykh Khalid al-Hussainan while eating his Suhoor (dawn time) meal, and we ask Allah to accept him in paradise.”
According to the report of an American TV, Al Kuwaiti was the last senior leader of al Qaida in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
In an interview earlier this year, Al Kuwaiti had said that he started his religious studies in 1986 in Saudi Arabia and began to fight Jihad in 2006. He was also the author of many religious pamphlets.
