Axiom in Action!

By Bertyc @bertyc
Hi all,
As promised, a new post to update everyone on what the race engineering team has been up to. Like the last post mentioned, the team was out driving our new car in Lot 10 at the university last Saturday and Sunday. One of the biggest goals of the weekend was to make sure that Axiom, besides just looking great, could handle the rigors of being out in a real driving scenario.
From a race engineering point of view, some things that we look out for included ease of driver control, durability, and ability to satisfy the requirements of the ASC scrutineering tests.
After getting some driving time for each of our 4 drivers, we set up some performance tests which we would be required to pass before running in ASC. As we had all hoped, Axiom (and our drivers) gave some "A+" performances! For both the figure-8 and slalom courses, Axiom easily beat the required time for scrutineering, under two different drivers in each case!
Next up for Axiom (after final exams) will be two weekend dates at a race track in Hanna, May 1st and 8th. Besides getting hours of in-car time for our drivers, we hope to get some power usage data from Axiom, which will be extremely useful on the race in June.
Look out for more updates from the electrical and mechanical teams this week, as well as some pictures to be posted of Axiom in action! In the meantime, check out the "teaser" pic below.
Next week: An exciting announcement involving the team's pre-race agenda! Talk to you then!
