Ava DuVernay producing racially charged drama series Red Line for CBS centered around a white cop who shoots a black doctor.
According to Deadline, The Chicago-set show centers on a police shooting and its aftermath, when a white cop mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor; the show will follow three different families who are affected by this event.
Ava DuVernay executive produces with Berlanti Productions’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
Red Line is from Chicago theater alums Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss, who have worked as a team for years.
DuVernay is also prepping for the release of her Disney film A Wrinkle In Time, (which is due out in March) starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and Storm Reid. Also, the third season of OWN’s Queen Sugar is preparing to start filming.
