Listen! The Queen Sugar season 3 premiere was everything! and watching aunt Vi (played by Tina Lifford) follow her dreams of being an entrepreneur in-spite of the obstacles she came up against had me in tears.

On Wednesday night’s episode Violet Bordelon was focused on getting her pie order ready to place in the grocery store. She was not going to let her health, or a broke stove get in her way. Shoot, even when Hollywood big check came in, and he tried to get her to go shopping, she was like nah I have to finish these pies boo.

Okay, so first her stove went out, so she went to the restaurant where she worked and continued to bake. When the owner found out, and told her she couldn’t use his kitchen, she humbly went to the bingo hall to talk to Ms. Effie about using St. Agnes. It’s clear, aunt Violet doesn’t care too much for Ms. Effie, but she wasn’t going to let that stop her.

Anyway, so she finish the pies, and like Hollywood said…she did it her way!

The entire Bordelon crew go with aunt Violet to the grocery store, excited to see her pies featured on the center bakery display. Well, they weren’t there. Instead they were shoved on the shelf underneath the meat counter. Aunt Vi wasn’t having it, and asked to speak to the manager , who of course was already gone for the day. So, once again she didn’t let it stop her! and emotional aunt Vi begins to move them herself, and the rest of the family pitched in.

She then walks off, Hollywood chases her down an aisle where she utters probably the BEST line of the episode.

“I’m almost 60 years old, and I will not be sidelined, sidetracked or side stepped, or put in a damn corner and told to wait my turn. It’s my time!! It’s my time!!, aunt Violet Bordelon said with tears running down her face.

Queen Sugar goes back to it’s regular time next week. Wednesday nights at 10/9c.
