I have always loved singer-songwriter, Audrey Assad so when I learned she had a three-song Christmas release, I couldn’t wait to hear it. Now that I’ve listened to this EP, I can assure you that Audrey Assad does NOT disappoint with Winter. The Winter EP is available on both Amazon mp3 and iTunes.
The Track Listing:
- Song For A Winter’s Night
- Midwinter
- Winter’s Snow
Audrey Assad was originally signed to Sparrow Records, but is now with Fortunate Fall Records. She has already released 3 albums and 2 EP’s over the past few years and her music has always reminded us of God’s faithfulness and love for us.WIth her new EP, titled Winter, Audrey provides us with three awesome worshipful songs reflecting on the birth of Jesus.
The first song, Song For A Winter’s Night, is a cover of the song originally written and recorded by Gordon Lightfoot. She originally recorded it with Chris Tomlin on his Glory In The Highest album in 2009 and had long wanted to release her own version of the song. The second song, Midwinter, is more of a worship song that highlights the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ, who was born in a manger, is worthy of our adoration. It is Audrey’s version of the hymn In the Bleak Midwinter. The third song, Winter Snow, reminds us of the birth of Jesus, not as a king or majestic ruler, but as a baby later to grow up to bring us freedom from our sins. Both Song For A Winter’s Night and Midwinter are Audrey’s favorites during the Christmas season.
“I personally love music during the holidays that leaves room for my heart to experience a wide range of emotions in a season that can be so beset by festivity—sorrow and joy often happen at the same time, and that doesn’t change just because the holidays arrive,” says Audrey. “It is my hope that these songs provide space for both celebration and contemplation.”
