According to the Wellawa Police, an executive grade audit officer had been arrested with several one thousand rupee counterfeit currency notes.
The suspect was arrested after a complaint was made by a businessman from Wellawa area that the suspect had given a counterfeit note to buy goods.
During the inspection of the suspect’s house in the Kumbukwewa Sinharaja area, police found 16 more counterfeit notes. Police are investigating.
