“This is the best production Atlantis has presented in its many years of producing theater... not with a mammoth set, a huge cast, and racks of elaborate costumes, but with simplicity and directness, and a cast of six wonderful actors whose sole purpose was to tell a good story.” -- Lea Salonga

Atlantis Productions' “Next to Normal” returns for a limited engagement on Oct 7-16, 2011, at the Carlos Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza Bldg., Makati City.
“Next to Normal," directed by Bobby Garcia, is a rock musical by Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book/lyrics) that puts a woman's lifelong struggle with bi-polar disorder and depression center stage. The two earned the 2009 Tony Award for Best Score and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Back from the original Manila run in March 2011 are Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Jett Pangan, Felix Rivera, Jake Macapagal, Pilipinas Markki Stroem and Bea Garcia.

PLUS: Reposting--
At the end of Next to Normal, after nearly two-and-a-half hours of raw and riveting musical theater, the show ends with a song that's about the characters acknowledging their complicated destinies, and from there trying to move on. Some ghosts are never gone, but we go on, we still go on, as one line goes. That musical valedictory provides a soul-stirring end note to the whole proceedings, not least because, at last, all six characters in the musical are together, harmonizing on a powerful, cathartic statement of hope. The song is called Light.
