Design & Build

The phone arrives in Meteor Silver and Midnight Blue color options. The packaging box contains ZenFone 5Z with a case and an 18W charger in the box. You also get a USB Type-A to Type-C cable and a pair of Hi-Res-certified in-ear headphones. The ZenFone 5Z is available in three variants: 6GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. It weighs 25 grams.

The ZenFone 5Z features 2.5D glass at the front and the back. Due to the metal and glass finish, The Asus ZenFone 5Z feels premium. The 6.2-inch display has a 1080×2246 resolution. There's no AMOLED screen which is not only one main downside but also one of the main reasons why the Zenfone 5Z is priced low. The ZenFone 5Z features an IPS-LCD panel. Performance

The ZenFone 5Z is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with the latest Adreno 630 graphics and up to 8GB RAM. This is a flagship-grade octa-core processor clocked at 2.8GHz. The phone also packed with onboard 64GB UFS2.1 storage which offers plenty of room for apps, music, and photos, but if it doesn't suffice, there's also a microSD card slot that you can use to add up to 2TB of further storage.

The ZenFone 5Z runs Android 8.0 (Oreo) with a new-look Zen user interface (UI). The user interface of the Asus Zenfone 5Z is simple and easy to use. In our everyday usage, all the apps and games worked just fine. We didn't encounter any hitch. The volume rocker and the power button are placed on the right side of the phone while the hybrid SIM card tray located on the left side of the phone.

The USB Type-C port, a speaker grille, the primary microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are positioned at the bottom. Backside supports vertical dual rear camera setups with a dual-tone LED flash right below it and a fingerprint sensor at the center of the upper half.

Camera

The Asus Zenfone 5Z houses a 12 Megapixel primary camera with a 24mm lens and a f/1.8 aperture. The secondary camera is an ultra-wide camera (12mm) with an 8-megapixel resolution and f/2.0 aperture. A portrait mode of the Zenfone 5Z is also appealing. The camera shutter is quick to respond. You can expect sharp shots in low light. real-time AI Portrait and Beautification and 16 modes features are nice additions and work well most of the times.

Battery & Connectivity

Under the hood, it is bundled with a 3,300mAh battery, which is able to take out a full day's back-up on modest use. It supports fast charging which is very impressive. It lacks a wireless charging. Coming to the connectivity options the Asus Zenfone 5Z include Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band WiFi 802.11ac, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, and BDS.
