Rear Admiral Aruna Tennekoon on Tuesday assumed office as Commander Northern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Aruna Tennekoon was received to the Northern Naval Command according a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval tradition. Subsequently, Commodore Isira Kasiwatta who performed duties as Acting Area Commander, officially handed over duties and responsibilities pertinent to the appointment to the newly appointed Area Commander. Rear Admiral Aruna Tennekoon held office as Director General Personnel at the Navy Headquarters and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, prior being appointed as Commander Northern Naval Area.
