This week I swapped with Jenessa from Mothering (In Real Life), she is married and has three beautiful children. Her blog is very encouraging and we have a lot in common. She has a wide variety of posts including fun activities for the kids, her struggles with depression, and finding the positive where you wouldn’t think its possible.

  1. I read in a previous post that you like to sing along to songs from Frozen. Are there any songs, shows or movies your kids love that you really can’t stand?

I don’t really care for Barney and I am thankful that my youngest son doesn’t really care to watch that show. I don’t let my kids watch a ton of television. I have it on for the little one some during the day and we watch stuff on PBS or Sprouts. My older kids like Nickelodeon but some of the shows that are on that show I could do without.

  1. Describe your wedding day. If you had the chance to do it all over, is there anything you would change?

My wedding day in 2008 was amazing and I wouldn’t change a thing. We were blessed to be married among our friends and family. There was a ton of work that was done behind the scenes from our wonderful friends who helped with decorations, bake our wedding cake, and took photos.

After the wedding, we drove to Houston for the night so that we didn’t have to drive down the next morning to Galveston, Texas to go on a cruise. It was a ton of fun. We went on a 7 day cruise to Jamaica, Cayman Islands, and Cozumel Mexico.

  1. I love how colorful your logo is. Did you design it yourself?

When I redesigned my blog a few months ago, I wanted a new logo. I went out and searched a ton of vector graphics looking for something that stood out to me. I found the tree which represents a family tree. Then my husband created the graphic for me. He even made a custom graphic for my Facebook header too.

  1. Your story of your first child is similar to mine. I was also just out of high school, 18 and living at home. What hardships did you find being a teenage mother? How did it effect the rest of your life?

My mom had kept most of my twin sisters clothes, crib, and car seats so when I had my daughter, I was blessed that I already had everything I needed to take care of my daughter. I wasn’t working after I had her and I had to learn to live off of one income. I quickly learned how to be frugal and learned that my kids didn’t have to have a ton of stuff in order to be happy. I am still look for ways to save money when I can and always look for bargains.

  1. Have you noticed a difference in your parenting style from your first child to your last child?

I have learned over the years that each child learns differently and as a parent you have to adapt your parenting style to fit each child. What works for one doesn’t always work for another.
