I know I am a bit late to the game since we are already 10 days into the New Year. I had a rough start and I felt like my life was crumbling around me. I know that there will be good times and bad times in this life. Most of you know that I suffer from chronic pain and it is a hindrance but at the same time I was letting it define who I was. I got several signs that it was time to try and change. I don’t promise to be perfect but I will try to do better in 2015.

  1. Did you make any New Years Resolutions? Asked by Stacey

I traditionally don’t make any New Year’s Resolutions because I know that I am bad about keeping them. Instead, I have come up with a few goals in mind to help me be more active and live again.

Eat Healthier

Walk at least 3 x week

Spend more time with my family

Go to bed at a decent hour

Get up at a decent hour

  1. What is one New Year’s resolution you always make, but never quite meet? Asked by Echo

Around the start of the New Year, I always dream of losing weight. It has been a few years since I have vowed to lose weight and usually do good for several weeks. Then like most people I fall off the bandwagon and go back to my old habits.

I need to make the changes in question number one for my own health. I feel into the trap of letting my chronic pain get me down and keep me in bed far too long. My goal is to be more active and do things even though it might cause me more pain. I need to do this so that I will be around to see my kids grow up, get married one day, and have their own families.

I am 5 days down and I may fall again but I know that I have a bunch of people encouraging me.

  1. What would you like to do this year that you have never done before? Asked by Echo

I finally decided to try to kick the diet soda to the curb for good. I don’t know how many times that I have been told that the diet soda isn’t good for me and how it is wrecking havoc on my body. I have given up Diet soda for lent a few years ago.

  1. How did you ring in 2015? Did you watch the ball drop? Asked by Stacey

We always host New Year’s Eve at our house. There is always a ton of great snacks and drinks for everyone. The kids usually all play together, watch movies, or play the Wii. The adults usually end up playing several games of Wahoo or other card games. Then we always watch the ball drop on television.

  1. What were you doing when the clock struck 12? Asked by Echo

I was watching the ball drop on television.

  1. Have you chosen your “One Word” for 2015? Asked by Stacey

I haven’t thought about it until you mentioned it. If I had to choose one word for 2015 today, I would choose Overcome. I know that I have already overcome so many things since I got laid off but I want to continue to overcome fibromyalgia and chronic pain. While the pain may not disappear, I can choose to not let it win. I had to adjust some of my medications and it will be a challenge.

  1. Play out 2014 and play in 2015! Which song summarises the year just gone and which song voices your hopes for the New Year? Asked by Sylva

Song for 2014

The past is gone and I can’t change it. I can keep moving forward and do my best not to fall into the same patterns.

Song for 2015

I would love for God to continue using me and to take me to places that I am uncomfortable and have to trust Him.
