Characters
Cassie is a rebellious daughter that doesn’t want to move across the country. She must deal with this, which sees her befriend a couple of locals and dive into an Urban Legend. Cassie finds herself needing to open up, but her secrets will cause more problems.
Lucas and Sarah are the newlyweds trying to help Cassie start a new life together. There is tension between Sarah and Cassie, which happens in most stepparent relationships. They are both trying to do the best for Cassie even if it is testing their patience.
The McKinley family is an urban legend for the area, they have a reputation for terror. Only they have an even darker series of motivations than the family is prepared for.
Performances
The performances in the movie are strong, where we get the typical Harley Wallen cast. He often uses the same cast and it helps get the best out of the performers throughout the film.
Story
The story follows a family looking to start a fresh life. When they run into a twisted family who decides to target them to become their latest victims. This becomes a battle of survival and building a relationship with a new family.
The story brings us into a world with a twisted family. This can be seen in other films like ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, only this one doesn’t bring a gimmick weapon to the party. It plays into the idea that you never know which urban legends about a new town to believe and dives into the twisted games. Everything plays out with lots of games from the sadistic family, despite it going through the same routine, one too many times.
