About

Since we filmed this Buzzsession late in 2014, Icelandic singer/songwriter Ásgeir has emerged as a bonafide international breakout star. His hit “King and Cross” has solidified his position within Iceland’s burgeoning indie music scene, and earned him a spot on tour with Alt-J during the spring of 2015.

Ásgeir’s haunting falcetto and intricate guitar picking are reminiscent of Bon Iver and José Gonzalez. As an interesting aside, the entirety of Ásgeir’s oeuvre was translated directly from its original Icelandic to English. Some of the lyrics were penned by Ásgeir’s father, acclaimed Icelandic poet Einar Georg Einarsson.

We recorded this Buzzsession live at The Gallery Recording Studio located in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The masterful Jon Jagos captured these intimate renditions of “Going Home” and “King and Cross.”

‘Buzzsessions’ is an original series of live music videos produced by The Wild Honey Pie. With each new episode, we capture footage of our favorite bands as they record alternate studio-quality versions of their songs.
