Asad Umar will be Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate in the by elections in NA-48 constituency of Islamabad, the insiders have told Pak News.
PTI candidate Makhdoom Javed Hashmi had emerged as an unlikely winner from NA-48 in May 11 polls by securing more than 73,000 votes but he decided to retain his native NA-149 seat.
The formal announcement to field Asad Umar in NA-48, which encompasses mostly the urban area of Islamabad, will be made after the endorsement of party’s parliamentary board.
50-year-old Asad Umar is the former CEO of largest local conglomerate Engro Corporation. In April last year he took early retirement to join PTI.
