Artist On The Rise: Broods

  This week’s artist on the rise is a music duo, a band called Broods. Broods is a duo of siblinngs from Nelson, New Zealand. It is composed of Georgia Nott along with older brother Caleb Nott. Gorgia is the lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Caleb Nott on production and backing vocals. Their first single “Bridges” released reached No. 8 on the New Zealand Single Chart, and signed with Capitol and Polydor Records. They released their debut EP, “Broods“, on January 30, 2014, which was followed by a full-length album,”Evergreen”, on August 22, 2014.

Broods was formed in Auckland in early 2013. The brother-sister project began collaborating with music producer Joel Little, whom they met as a judge at the 2011 Smokefreerockquest.  This music duo usually produce Indie popelectronica, electropop,trip hop. They have been active from 2013 to present.  Broods signed with Capitol Records and Polydor in the UK and Europe in December 2013. As their song,“Never Gonna Change“, was made available for streaming in anticipation of their debut EP, which Broods released on January 30, 2014.  The band made their debut U.S. performance at Bardot in Hollywood, California in 2014.  They toured North America, then Australia in support of Ellie Goulding, and returned to the U.S., supporting Sam Smith.

Although this duo has not had many years in the highlights their song “Bridges” crossed oceans and has given them the opportunity most artists dream for. They also won as Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2014 New Zealand Music Award. Apart from being nominated for Single of the Year, and the People’s Choice Award, They received a nomination from the APRA Silver Scroll Awards.
