This week’s artist on the rise is band Bastille, an English Rock, Indie Pop, Indie Rock, Synthpop and Indietronica band formed in London in 2010. They began as a solo project by Singer-Songwriter Dan Smith, who later decided to form a band. the band would be complete with the addition of : Chris ‘Woody’ Wood, William Farquarson, and Kyle Simmons. In December 2010, EMI Music announced that they had offered Bastille a record contract with Virgin Records. Their debut single, “Overjoyed” was subsequently released in April 2012.
Their first album, titled “Bad Blood”, was released in March 2013 and it reached at the top of UK Album Chart. In February 2013, Bastille confirmed the release of the fourth single to be taken from “Bad Blood”, “Pompeii“. The song was positively reviewed by critics, reaching number two in the United Kingdom and number five in the US. The track was used for the soundtrack of Blockbuster movie Pompeii.
The band was nominated for four Brit Awards at the 2014 ceremony, including for British Breakthrough Act, British Group, British Single of the Year and British Album of the Year, winning for British Breakthrough Act. The group have been nominated many times from the US and UK AMA‘s, they have won a few times and have had a great journey to the limelight’s. In September 2014, they released the last single from Bad Blood, “Oblivion“, with double a-side “Bad_News“. They have sold millions of albums in UK alone. These men have taken The world by storm and they haven’t been in the music business too long. The fans support these gentlemen wholeheartedly and i personally can say that we expect nothing more than sensational music from them. They never seize to amaze us.
