Today is the last day for the fall Art Attack at the Northrup King building in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. We went with our grandkids yesterday and they had a great time... didn't want to leave!
Their favorite was watching glass blowing...
...but they also enjoyed the live music...
... and were fascinated by the cut glass mosaics.
It was a fun afternoon roaming the maze of hallways lined with studios and the work of more than 250 artists.
Not shy, our grandkids headed right back to see working studio space and chat with the artists.
We even bought a painting to add to our collection... a tradition started 42 years ago, purchasing a piece of original art every year to celebrate our anniversary. This year we bought a piece from T. Young, an artist we just discovered yesterday at Art Attack. This is one of the things I love about the Twin Cities... we have such a wealth of talent involved in all the arts, as well as events like this where they can showcase their work and share it with an engaged audience.
I see the piece we purchased is the cover photo on her Facebook page today... :-) It was hard to pick just one, love her colors and style... this one struck my husband almost right away, and when we learned the title was 'Gratitude' we thought it was especially fitting... sold!
If you go, Art Attack continues today noon to 5 pm... with studio demonstrations and live entertainment including live musicians and performing members of Twin Cities Ballet of Minnesota... and of course, food!
Don't worry if you miss this event, studios are open First Thursdays throughout the year and Holiday Saturdays in December.
