Are You Glued In?

Are you into using Geo Social apps? Do you know what they are? They are location based social networks. Ever since I checked in with Foursquare I have been using it pretty regularly and have received discounts off of dinner and other special offers from businesses I visit. In using Foursquare it's best that you have a smart phone and have the app installed on it so you can see use it as you are out and about. You can set your own profile and settings, you can share or not with your Twitter and Facebook accounts. You can choose who are your friends with as you do with any other social network. On Foursquare, remember they will know where you are when you do check in. You can read my previous post to learn more about Foursquare.
On Twitter I noticed the Four Legged Mom always using @getglue with tv programming. She is always doing something new - I am often inspired by her. I was curious. Of course I had to check this one out too! I found out it was more than just TV viewing, it has glues for books, movies and other activities. When you "glue" in it also tells you how many others are watching, reading, listening or playing too.
Again you can log in with your Twitter or Facebook account (Thank God not another password) and start gluing what you are watching, playing (games), reading or listening to. I believe on GetGlue it just moved over my Twitter friends as friends on GetGlue. Where over on Foursquare you got to choose your own. GetGlue gives out stickers for rewards and you can place a GetGlue widget on your blog or website if you choose. When you "Glue" something it will post on your Twitter and Facebook feed unless you disconnect them. So it's a way of watching TV and being social at the same time, people go back and forth on it over episodes and sporting events. You can also rate shows, books, artists, by giving a thumbs up or down. GetGlue can also suggest to you movies, books, shows that you may want to check out based on your past glues and what is popular with your friends.
According to Forrester research only 6 percent of US adults on a monthly basis using these geo social applications. Users fall between the ages of 23-45. These applications are meant to drive consumers to local businesses. I believe these applications have a lot of growth potential in the upcoming years to come.
Are you one of the 6% on the GeoSocial Networks? If not will you start gluing in or checking in?
