James Schipper: Supremacism implies domination. Many White “nationalists” have no desire to dominate other races. Their preference is for a homogeneously white country. In such a country, there can be no domination of one race by another. The mere belief in the superiority of one’s own group does not imply imperialism, although imperialism requires belief in the superiority of one’s own group. It doesn’t make any sense to take the position: “You are as good as we are, but we have the right to rule over you anyway”. It is best to reserve the term supremacist for those who advocate imperialism of some sort.
pepperoncini: Yes some White Nationalists just want their own homogenous White country but all too often soo many of them come off as Supremacists.
Take Stormfront for example – many posters there will claim SF is about White Nationalism and not Supremacy but there are too many posters who can’t help but attack Blacks as much as possible. Another aspect of the supremacist mindset is the pushing of a Historical narrative that credits Whites with most all ancient civilizations.
I starting hanging out on those sites a while back out of sheer curiosity. Mostly American Renaissance, which I found very interesting but a bit sly and devious. I also hung out on some others like Occidental Dissent and Majority Rights. I never could handle Stormfront, but I am glad that a lot of non-Whites and White non-racists or antis go there if only to see what these guys are all about.
First of all I would like to dispel the notion that all of these people are stupid trailer trash. Many White nationalists, especially on Amren but also on other sites, are highly intelligent. Quite a few are intellectuals. There are university professors, attorneys, psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, surgeons, on and on and on. A good number of them make good to excellent incomes and live in expensive neighborhoods. It is amazing how well-read many of them are.
You will find more intellectual depth on the American Renaissance comments section than on most sites on the Net. On Stormfront, whatever brains any of them have get drowned out by the tidal wave of hate that most of them are wrapped up in. It seems when people are that hateful, they don’t seem to be able to do a lot of intellectual thinking. Majority Rights was sort of a Stormfront for Intellectuals. It was a very fascinating site, and there were many learned folks on there. But after I was there for a while, I could really feel the hate starting to build. A number of those posters were simply unhinged.
So many times these White Nationalists patiently explained to me that they did not hate anyone or any other race at all, they were beyond all of that, and all they wanted to do was to go away to their White Homeland and be left alone. Many of them told me that they were concerned first and foremost with love for the White race and they were so busy loving the White race that they didn’t have time to hate.
Others went on and on about the differences between White Supremacists and White Nationalists and how they were the latter and not the former. For quite some time, I believed that. But after a while, it all started to fall apart. One by one, the people who insisted that they were all about love for Whites and only wanted to be left alone would be caught making some of the most cruel and vicious racist comments I had ever heard. At that point, I thought, “No way do these people only want to be left alone. No way do they only want to love Whites. No way do they not hate any other groups.”
One by one, these fakers fell before me. Some of them were very slippery and hard to ferret out, including some of the public faces of the movement who hide their tracks very well. Even the slickest of the slick revealed themselves to me finally when I discovered that while they did not talk much about most non-Whites, they harbored a lot of covert animus towards Blacks. It felt like dismissal and contempt and it had a very cruel air to it. It was as if they were scoffing at Black people and they didn’t think any Blacks anywhere could ever measure up to anything.
And at other times, some nastiness slipped into their discourse with this same sort of snide contemptuous dismissal, in this case towards me. I started to think that even the nicest faces of the movement had a carefully guarded mean streak a mile wide.
And I also realized that almost all of them hated most non-Whites. Quite a few seemed to hate or dislike all non-Whites. The more moderate ones over at Amren often praised East Asians as a very civilized and well-behaved race. Some had a warm spot for American Indians, or at least their feelings towards them were more pity than contempt. Some of them lived in the Pacific Islands with SE Asian wives. A few others had married NE Asian women.
Feelings towards the Jews were divided. Some praised them for being a high-achieving and well-behaved race. Quite a few others were off into anti-Semitism and felt that Jews were the enemy of the Whites. They didn’t talk about South Indians or Middle Easterners very much. Dislike of Hispanics was somewhat muted as this is a difficult group to hate for most people.
But one thing tied all White nationalists together was that every single one of them harbored a lot of hate towards Black people.
But overall, most people seemed to feel that Whites were something special and were better than most other races if not all of them.
After thinking a while, I finally realized that there was no difference between White nationalists and White Supremacists. I think I may have met one or two liberal to leftwing White nationalists who truly did not hate any other groups. But over 99%+ of White nationalists were simply White supremacists in one form or another.
So when a White nationalist tells you that he’s not a White Supremacist and that he doesn’t hate any other groups and only wants to be left alone, you can assume he is lying. Almost all White Nationalists are indeed White supremacists. The two terms are nearly synonymous. Don’t fall for that one.
