Are Blog Comments a Bad Way of SEO Optimization

Most people who deal with SEO optimization know that on a blog during commenting it is not smart to write anchor text in the field where you should write your name and that for a valid reason!

The fact is that that way of link building is not welcome, at least not in this negative form, because Google has learned long ago to differentiate anchor text from a real name that is left in the field for names. A lot of SEO masters has figured that out when Penguin update literally downed sites that were optimized in that way and simply made them “invisible” for people who searched for them.

So the breaking of Google guide for webmasters is the thing that is least desirable as a way of SEO optimization!

Returning such a punished website is an arduous job that demands sending e-mails to the administrators of all those blogs where the comment has been left in the wrong way and asking them to remove that comment, some will help you, but most will complete ignore your plea, and there is a another factor, who in the world will remember where they left all their comments!

So, the fact is that sometime it is better to make a new website because it is easier with an uncompromised website to get to a leading position in the search results with the correct SEO optimization than sending countless e-mails with pleas for deleting compromising links. Everybody who goes in the waters of link building is aware that if they manipulate links they come into a position where they can be punished, whether it is from Penguin update or by manual punishment that is actual in the last two years.

Is Google completely against link building?

Of course not, but Google needs you to play by the rules, Matt Cutts clearly stated that commenting on blogs won’t harm the website that is promoted and will not harm its position if the name of the person is left in the space where the name should be left, not an anchor text.

Matt Cutts also stated that if social networks have become a place where you promote your work and there is no punishment for that, why wouldn’t promoting on blogs add to the promotion of your website if you stick by the rules and don’t put anchor text where you shouldn’t put anchor text.

Still, such a way of promoting hides one danger, if you overdo it with the commenting or your comments are not connected to the topic or they are simply vulgar there is a hazard that the admin marks you as a spammer, and because there are tools like Akismet on WordPress platform that protect against spammers, you will find yourself in a situation where you can’t leave a comment on any WordPress platform that is protected by Akismet, and almost all of them are!

Also, don’t use tools that automatically send comments, Google figured them out ages ago. Stick with these tips and you’ll be alright.
