April 2015 Boxycharm Unboxing & Review!

By Slowdownandsavor

Yay! It’s BOXYCHARM time!!! I love getting my monthly BOXYCHARM box, and when April’s amazing BLOOM box arrived yesterday, I got so excited. From the two sneak peeks that the folks at BOXYCHARM leaked through their Facebook & Instagram accounts, I knew this box would be one of the best that I’ve received thus far.

But before I get started, let me quickly break down what BOXYCHARM is.

BOXYCHARM is a beauty box subscription service that surprises you each month with the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. From nail care, to the hottest hair products, to the top skin care and cosmetics, each box will have your head-to-toe beauty needs covered! So each month, subscribers like me receive a box filled with full size and luxury size beauty samples from their preferred well-known brands.

The subscription is $21/month, and that price includes shipping and handling. So while it’s a bit more expensive than some of the other $10/month subscriptions out there, it’s because this box contains 4-5 full-sized products every month, and sometimes 1 deluxe sample sized item.

If you are interested in subscribing, you can do so HERE. I’ll put a link at the bottom too, in case you decide you feel like subscribing AFTER reading all the awesome stuff I’m about to share with you.

OK, now that we have all of that out of the way, let’s get started.

April’s BOXYCHARM theme was April Bloom, and as the card reads, “Be always blooming with your April BOXYCHARM! This month’s box is springing with blossoms that will leave you looking and feeling fresh and a daisy.” Cute.

As always, I’ll save the back of the card which lists all of the products and prices for the end, so we can all be surprised together. This month’s box included 4 full sized beauty products, and one deluxe sample, and I have to say, OMG. It’s really good, you guys.

The first product I pulled out was the OFRA Derma Mineral Powder: Full-sized, $35.00.

Holy shimmer, Batman! This stuff is blinding, but in an amazing way. And while it’s a pink highlight, it isn’t so obviously pink that it’s going to be weird.

As the card describes it, OFRA’s ultra-fine loose powder with natural sunscreen is high in shimmer for a glamorous look. This product can be used on face and body and is suitable for all skin tones. I betcha it’ll be absolutely beautiful as a highlight or a blush-topper once I stop being such a hermit and go outside and get a tan.

Plus, I hear it’s simply gorgeous when put on the collar bone, or even on your chest. I can’t wait to test it out. (Some subscribers received the OFRA’s Illuminating Blush Stripes.)

The second product I pulled from the box was the Harvey Prince Hello fragrance: Deluxe Sample Size roller ball, $21.00. Harvey Prince crafts high-quality fragrances, each with its own spirit an story. These are scents with purpose: personal, natural, upscale perfumes to bring out each woman’s personality, inner strength and beauty. Whatever your niche, harvey Prince has a special scent for you.

Errmahgerhd. This smells SO good. I’m not even kidding guys. It apparently has notes of Meyer lemon, Satsuma mandarin, forsythia and plumeria.  This is a floral/musky fragrance, and I’m in love.

And while it’s a deluxe sample, it’s huge. Like, I’m never going to run out of this. I love roller balls, because you can’t really OVER use it, and it’s the perfect size for travel! So happy with this.

The third product I grabbed for was the Vincent Longo Double-Sided Eye Pencil: Full Sized, $26.00. Double-sided pencil featuring two complementary shades allowing you to create a variety of eye looks. Color glides on velvety smooth. Great for blending and smudging. Use the darker shade along butter lash line to define and shape, and apply lighter shade to inner corners for a wide-open look.

Sweet! I’ve never seen a duo-sided eye pencil before, but who doesn’t love two-in-ones? I love them. My liner came in the colors Midnight, and Smoke, a beautiful deep blue shade, and a creamy charcoal grey, almost black shade. While the card says to use the darker shade on the outer lash line and the lighter shade on the inner corners, I wont’ be doing that with this… I mean, they’re both REALLY dark shades. No way is a midnight blue going to make my eyes look “wide-open.”

These liners apply super smooth, especially for a wooden pencil, and I like how easily it applies to my eyes.  (Some subscribers received Jing Ai or Model Co products instead of the liner.)

The fourth product is actually a hair product, and usually I’m not that thrilled about hair products, because I don’t do anything to my hair. Ever. Except for wash it. Twice a week. Maybe. Anyway, it’s the Coolway Smoothing Lotion: Full-sized, $24.95. Coolway’s conditioning lotion is packed with vitamins and proteins to smooth and control unruly hair

But I have to say, I’m very intrigued by this product. I sometimes have battles with my hair in the frizz-department, so I’m excited to test this out and see how it works with my hair. I just hope it doesn’t leave me looking greasy and weighed down. That’s usually my issue with products in general… We shall see! I do have to say though, it smells amazing. Like candy almost. Which is weird… But I’ll be happy with it for the scent alone.

Plus, CoolWay provided us subscribers with a discount code good for 35% off your purchase & a free Knotty Girl Hairbrush, from April 1 – May 15! Awesome. Just use the code BOXY4U and get in on the action.

And without further ado, the fifth and final product, the one you’ve all been waiting for…

The Coastal Scents Revealed Palette 2 $39.95 (sale price $19.95)! Woo hoo! Influenced by the lustrous beauty the original Revealed palette, Revealed 2 presents another selection of twenty gorgeous mattes and shimmers. The slim palette holds twenty shadows, allowing for easy on-the-go application.

In the December BOXYCHARM box, we received the original Coastal Scents Revealed palette, and I fell so hard for it. So in love, you guys. So in love. As you may recall from that post, I mentioned that the palette was an amazing dupe for the Urban Decay Naked palettes, both 1 and 2. Now, this Revealed 2 palette pretty much takes over the Naked 3 palette, and once again, I’m so happy I didn’t shell out the $54 for any of them. Yeah, this palette is incredible.

I mean, just LOOK at those colors! I am loving all of the beautiful berries, pinks and the beautiful champagnes and shimmers. Obsessed. The colors blend flawlessly, and are just crazy creamy and pigmented. They blend seamlessly and have excellent staying power. I’m just thrilled with this palette, and see it going into LOTS of use this spring and summer.

Final Thoughts: This month’s box has a grand total value of $146.90, or $126.90 with the sale price of the Coastal Scents palette. See? This was a truly fantastic box. Once again, BOXYCHARM went above and beyond, and really impressed me this month.

It’s safe to say I love everything, and that’s really awesome in a box. I mean, usually there’s at least 1 thing I could just do without. But this time, I’m 100% overwhelmingly satisfied.
