On 3rd October , the
Windows Store is reported to have had as many as 3610
apps and counting. This
increase is very fast, which is about
118 applications per day (calculated from September 9 last month).
With this growth the target that Windows Store will have about 5000 applications when Windows 8 launch day arrives. A figure that is much smaller than the number of apps in the App Store for the iPad at this time (250,000 applications). But greater than the number of apps in the App Store for the iPad when the iPad was launched (2000 applications).
Looked into the statistics, as many as 88% of the applications were priced at free. While the majority of these applications in the form of games (18%), and 94% of the total applications that work well on ARM processors as well as on x86.
