If you've just received a new iPhone 12, Apple Watch, or iPad, you might not be immediately satisfied - Apple had a few iCloud problems. This is likely the result of a large number of people trying to set up or update iCloud accounts after the Christmas holiday gifts.
The problem started early on Christmas Day, according to the iCloud account and login entry on Apple's system status page. More than a day later, as of late PT Saturday morning, the Apple system status page indicated that the problem was with the Storage service stayed "running". But on Saturday at 2 p.m. the iCloud problem was marked as "fixed". No details were given of how widespread the problem might have been, only that "some users were affected".

The company also encountered issues with Apple ID sign-in. In a Twitter response later on Christmas Day to a request from an Apple user trying to set up an iPad and a HomePod Mini, Apple Support has identified problems The company has "high capacity at this point, which affects your ability to set up iCloud". The Apple Support tweet said, "Please try again in a few hours."
The holidays are usually a busy time for device activations as people unwrap gifts from phones, tablets, smartwatches, smart speakers, and other electronics and try to get them set up right away.
Apple did not respond to a request for comment.
